How to embed a hyperlink into image in SAP Blogs?

Hi all!

Not sure if this is even possible, but a colleague and I are trying to embed a hyperlink into an image on SAP Blogs.

Why are we trying to do this? We have a video on Consensus, where we want to link to from our blog, but Consensus videos cannot be embedded to a blog on SAP Blogs, so we are looking for another "clean" way of doing this.

We tried to add the classical HTML tag in the text editor (as it is accepting HTML tags), where we put the image tag into the tag of the hyperlink, as stated below:

<a href="https://www.sap.com/about.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">
	<img src="https://www.itselector.nl/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/SAP-logo.jpg" />
</a>

However, when we save our blog, check the draft, and try to open the hyperlink (by clicking on the image), a new tab opens, but it says "blocked" in the address bar.

We tried different ways, but got nothing working so far, I'm wondering if anyone has any idea on how to make this work.

Looking forward to your responses!

Thanks in advance,
Kenneth

Hi, Kenneth:

daniel.wroblewski 's assumption is correct. We recently added functionality that allows people to enlarge images in blog posts by clicking on them. As a result, it wasn't possible to include hyperlinks on the images as well.

Other members have brought up this issue, however, and we are addressing. The plan is to give people the option -- so if they decide to add a hyperlink to the image, readers won't be able to click the image to enlarge it. Instead, they'll get the hyperlink.

I can't say with certainty when that functionality will be available. I believe it should be added in August, but I can't guarantee. For now, I'd recommend putting text beneath the image (as a caption, for example), explaining that it's a still from the video and including the URL/link to the full video.

Kind regards,
