Sales planners are always looking for confirmation that their compensation strategies are in line with their business goals. They want to make sure that their plans motivate sales teams at all levels and that they understand how any adjustments will affect the entire organization. Additionally, they need to consider the financial implications of implementing new plans.

SAP SuccessFactors Incentive Management's modeling feature offers upgraded capabilities that provide administrators with the tools they need to make informed decisions and optimize compensation plans effectively.

How does modeling work?

SAP SuccessFactors Incentive Management offers an easy-to-use modeling feature that helps administrators test out different compensation plan scenarios before implementing them. This helps ensure that any proposed changes align with the company's goals and yield the desired outcomes.

The modeling tool provides a detailed analysis at both the macro and micro-levels. It allows administrators to see the big-picture impact, as well as the individual payee-level effects. By using data from the past, the tool can predict the outcomes of proposed changes accurately.

Navigating the Modeling Workspace

The Modeling workspace serves as a dedicated sandbox environment, distinct from production data. This demarcation ensures that changes made during the modeling process remain isolated until finalized. New objects created for modeling purposes are shielded from visibility in the production environment, preserving data integrity.

Accessing the Modeling application requires appropriate permission settings configured within the Incentive Management Admin interface. Administrators must navigate through Manage Setup > Security > Roles > Permissions to manage access effectively.

Clear delineation between modeling and production environments mitigates the risk of unintended consequences, fostering a controlled and secure modeling environment.

Moreover, the Modeling application is yet another fully integrated component of the Horizon theme, ensuring a seamless user experience across the SAP SuccessFactors suite.

Creating and Running Models

Creating a new model is a straightforward process within the Modeling application. After selecting "Create New Model" from the dropdown menu, administrators provide essential details such as the model's name, description, and relevant parameters. These parameters include the calendar for source/planning periods and the source date for model data extraction.

Once the model is configured, administrators can review the summary before initiating a model run. This step triggers the generation of model period data based on historical primary measurements and specified parameters.
Administrators are immediately notified after the model run is completed, with the option to view detailed reports for further analysis.
