Configure and Run - Business process connector for SAP Signavio Solutions

In response to the need for transferring and managing complex process logic within SAP Signavio Process Manager and SAP Solution Manager systems, as well as synchronizing large process structures in a reliable and secure way, a connector “Business process connector for SAP Signavio Solutions” has been developed on SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) as a stand-alone cloud application.

It allows users to transfer data between SAP Solution Manager and SAP Signavio Process Manager with improved performance, security and connectivity, enhanced integration between business and IT streams with a fast, consistent, and reliable process synchronization.

It can connect to multiple SAP Signavio Process Manager and SAP Solution Manager systems simultaneously. It also offers reduced deployment time with out-of-the-box Customer Deployment, reduced maintenance costs and role-based management of synchronization. 

The business process model connector benefits spread across five different key areas: connectivity, security, functionality, sustainability, and user experience.

Pre-requisite - Before initial synchronization, one of the two systems – either SAP Solution Manager or SAP Signavio Process Manager – must be blank.

Subscribe to connector application on BTP -

• Go to BTP cockpit and create a subaccount in any of below two regions on BTP -

EU10 (AWS – Frankfurt)

US10 (AWS – Virginia)

• Assign "Business process model connector for SAP Signavio solutions" to the subaccount’s entitlements. You need to have SAP BTP administrator rights to do so.

Configure Entitlements -> Add Service Plans -> Select business process model connector for SAP Signavio solutions > free (Application) option and choose Add 1 Service Plan.

• Deploy the connector application in your subaccount.

Service Marketplace -> business process model connector for SAP Signavio solutions -> Create.

 

• Assign the below role to your user once the deployment is complete.

Security -> Users -> Add “FullAdmin” role.

• Launch the application at subaccount level as below –

Services -> Instances and Subscriptions -> Subscriptions -> Go to business process model connector for SAP Signavio solutions.

Setup cloud connector for Solution Manager -

• Install and configure SAP cloud connector to ensure secure connectivity from SAP BTP platform to on-premises SAP Solution Manager system.
• Expose below resources in the access control tab for the virtual host.

Connect Signavio Process Manager to Connector App -

• Launch connector application and go to -

Connected systems -> Add System -> Create System -> SAP Signavio Process Manager.

 

 

 

• Use "Signavio Process Manager - Help -> Workspace -> information" for inputs for system data. > Create System API user and password required - ensure this is a technical user assigned an API license in SAP Signavio Process Manager.

 The process will generate a destination on BTP for connectivity from SAP BTP platform to Signavio system.

 Perform a connection test of generated destination on BTP cockpit.

 

Connect SAP Solution Manager to Connector App -

• Launch connector application and go to -

Connected systems -> Add System -> Create System -> SAP Solution Manager.

 

 

 

 

 Perform a connection test of generated destination on BTP cockpit.

 Create a Synchronization Project-

• Go to Synchronization Projects on connector App and give the details for the new project. We need to specify the root folders for Signavio and Solution Manager on this screen.

 

 

 

 Activate the project.

 Run Synchronization Project-

• Go to “Run Synchronization Projects” on the connector app.

 Here, for an example, we will be running synchronization project from Signavio to SolMan.

 Click “Start” at the bottom of the screen to initiate the synchronization.

• We have placed a simple BPMN diagram on the Signavio root folder and SolMan root folder is kept empty.

 Once the project run is successfully finished, check at SolMan root folder to find that the diagram has been transferred successfully to SolMan from Signavio folder.

 Summary: This document will provide the detailed steps to configure on-premise Solution Manager and Signavio systems on “Business process connector for SAP Signavio Solutions” application on BTP and running the synchronization projects bidirectionally.
