Question on production planning for non-linear rounding value (if this is technically possible)

Dear experts,

I have an issue from legacy in my plant with non-linear rounding value and to add on to the difficulty is that we cannot plan extra since we dont have space for storage.

MOQ = 3
RV = for now we set following MOQ but it is causing issue.

Production capability (actual on ground):
3 & 12 (no other quantity allowed)

If daily requirement is 3
Then i need 3 x 1 planned order

If daily requirement is 6
then i need 3 x 2 planned orders

If daily requirement 9
then i need 3 x 3 planned orders

if daily requirement is 12
then I need 12 x 1 order

The reason size matter is because is because the size tie to the PV and the PV tie to the BOM alternatives to project correct component requirements..
Meaning the BOM/component to support the production is different when producing 3 and 12.

I'm not sure if SAP has the technical capability to manage such scenario.

Hello,

In SAP you can use the fixed lot size in this case.

In your case you can set fixed lot size as 3

If requirement is 3 then 1 planned order of 3 quantity will be there

If daily requirement is 6 then 2 planned orders of 3 quantity will be there

If daily requirement 9 need 3 planned orders of 3 quantity will be there

if daily requirement is 12 you need a 1 planned order of 12 quantity which is different than above scenario in the case you need to use MRP BAdi MD_CHANGE_MRP_DATA. which allows you to change any MRP element during the MRP

Hi Brahmankar,

Thank you very much for your quick reply. I'm only an end user, not sure about the MRP BAdi MD_CHANGE_MRP_DATA which you mentioned. Does this involve the backend programming/logic change? Is there anything which End User can use to fulfill the requirement?

Hello,

For above solution you need consult to your technical team .

Meaning the BOM/component to support the production is different when producing 3 and 12.

For this requirement you can do that at end-user level. By creating different BOMs and production versions and MRP 4 view Selection method 3 = Selection only by production version.

From lot size 1 to 11 PV1 with BOM 1

From Lot size 12 to 99999 PV2 with BOM 2

And in material master maintain rounding value as 3 in this case you will get upto order 09 with PV1 and BOM1 and above 9 order will be of 12 quantity with PV2 and BOM2 will gets selected during the MRP run..

Only you will not have multiple planned orders like when requirement of 6 you would like to have 2 planned orders.

Which can be achieve with my previous posting.
