Welcome to our blog series about SAP Subscription Billing’s new features!

From this month we would like to highlight our updates for the 2402 release of SAP S/4HANA Cloud, as well as the new forecast horizon options and the possibility to discard usage records. You find the complete list in our What’s New page on the SAP Help Portal, to which you can also subscribe to get notified of any news.

Integration with SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2402

Users of SAP Subscription Billing who are integrating via the Sales Billing functionality with SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition can benefit of the following features on the 2402 release:

Profit Centers Supported for Subscriptions

The solution process Solution Order Management (4GT) (integration option available in combination with Subscription Management with Sales Billing (57Z)) now supports profit centers for subscriptions created through a solution order. The profit center is an organizational unit that specifies the allocation of internal costs and revenues in SAP S/4HANA Cloud.

In the integration, profit centers are passed on from the solution order in SAP S/4HANA Cloud to subscription items in SAP Subscription Billing. Subscription items are then replicated to provider contracts in SAP S/4HANA Cloud for subsequent financial processes.

Navigation to Customer Data

You can now navigate to the customer data in the S/4HANA system from the Customer Overview app of SAP Subscription Billing. When the navigation is enabled, the customer’s details link to the Manage Customer Master Data app in SAP S/4HANA Cloud.

In SAP Subscription Billing, you activate the cross navigation in the Manage Business Configuration app, under Integration Settings.

Restructuring of Integration Flow for Bill Transfer

The field mapping of the integration flow between the billing data in SAP Subscription Billing and the subscription billing document requests (SBDR) in SAP S/4HANA Cloud is now restructured:

  • A new attribute SoldProduct is introduced to store the SAP Subscription Billing product code.
  • The main items are removed, and the SBDR item is created for each charge or credit for SAP Subscription Billing billing data.

You can still use the old version of the integration package; however, we recommend that you update to the new version.

For more information, see Transfer of Billing Data to Sales Billing in our Integration Guide.

Billing Forecasts: Define Forecast Horizon in Months or Years

You can now define the billing forecast horizon in months or years as well as in billing cycles.

In the Manage Business Configuration app, under Billing Forecast Settings, you do this by selecting Months, Years or Billing Cycles from the drop-down list of the Forecast Horizon field when creating a new billing forecast type.

Discard Usage Records

You can now discard usage records. You do this by either choosing Discard for a usage record on the detail page, or selecting multiple usage records on the list page and choosing Discard.

This feature requires the new role ui_usage_discard. For information about managing roles, see User Management in our Setup and Administration Guide.
