LOBM_UDCODE Batch class characteristic

Former Member

Experts,

I have added standard Batch class characteristic LOBM_UDCODE that is provided by SAP for Usage decision code.

I am creating inspection lot against Material and Batch no. I see that UD code is correctly updating in my Batch class whenever I take a UD from QA32.

At times, I have to reset UD code from QA12 Tcode. Whenever I do this, I see that SAP is raising an error message as shown below,

Question: Has anyone added this standard characteristic to Batch class and tried to reverse UD? Is there a reason SAP will not write an empty UD code to Batch class whenever UD has been reset?

Aspire

Hi Anil,

yes this KBA is probably relevant, the link for easier access:

2874214 - UD reversal issue: 'Note the format when entering code group and code' (QA898)

Keep up the contribution.

Have a nice day,

Hi Anil,

Thanks for your reply. I have already seen that KBA and its not helping me. When I look at characteristic LOBM_UDCODE in CT04, I see that there is standard function module that has been attached to this characteristic.

And SAP has explicitly written code to check that UD code should not be blank and that is why we are getting the error message. I am able to understand which part of SAP code is raising this error.

I would like to understand how others have handled this scenario when they had to add this standard characteristic to a Batch class. As long as we don't reverse the UD, everything is good. Only when we reverse the UD, we see the error message as the standard functionality does not allow an empty value for UD code field in a batch class.

The moment I delete the characteristic from the Batch class using rmclmdel program, I see that error does not happen and I am able to reverse the UD as expected without any error.

I found this SAP note 2514867. I am yet to implement it. But looking at the correction instructions, I can see that SAP is doing a validation to see if the UD code is not initial. Only if this is yes, then validation to check the UD code is done. So this should prevent that error message.

Thank you Anil.
