How to make auto Defect Recording work in case of result out of spec?

Hi QM Guru,

What we want is:

After a out of spec result is entered against an inspection lot, system can auto pick the proper code for either Upper limit or lower limit code rejection.

But we only got defect recording screen pops up and user has to manually select the code.

Please kindly advise if it is feasible and how to fulfill it.

Hi Sally,

It is standard SAP behaviors, you need to assign the Code group and code in the General ( input field ) in the master inspection characteristics

Hi Abhishek,

I followed your instructions by populating the "general defect code" in the catalog.

After I entered a value lower than the lower limit, the "general defect code" is picked up in the auto defect recording.

Is it possible the lower defect code is picked instead in this case?

Hi Sally,

For the system to consider as per the tolerance limit, use Valuation mode" Mean value within the tolerance range " in the sampling procedure, then only it will work

no, I mean directly in inspection characteristics (QS23)

yes Holger,

in QS23, I ticked "defect recording" for all of the 3 ICs.

IC1: Master-fixed target value

IC2: Instrument value with Target and High/low limit

IC3: Deviation- Target is 0， Spec is +/- 0.16 with formula=IC2-target value

Here is the RR setting for that plant.

Not quite sure if it is related.

I ever changed "recording configuration" to X-all background function and it is not working but changed the view of RR. So I changed back.

Thank you so much for your input.

I marked deletion flag to the defect type selected set (catalog 9).

I tested but still got the same issue. No code is auto selected according to the out of spec value.
