Hello All,
Hope your long weekend is going well.
I'm trying to set up a environment for SAP HANA using amazon cloud, with BODS as data loading tool and oracle 10g as back end DB for SAP application data followed by BO reporting tools (information design tool,Web i).
I came across a document that described the best practice is to select SAP application tables for data loading. But I was wondering while creating new data store in BODS, why is it best practice to select SAP applications and not Oracle DB directly even though the back end DB is Oracle DB?!
Thanks,
Vinay
Hello,
short answer can be "because it is written like this in SAP HANA Modeling Guide - see page 20 - chapter 4.4 Adding Connections" 🙂
to be honest I did not try anything else - there is possibility you might hit the issues later in the replications process - for example SAP HANA will not be able to see your connection until you will declare it as SAP system...
i would suggest you to try both options (you can define multiple source systems) and then let us know when it stopped working or that it worked 🙂
