Hi

We using the ECC 6.0 version and we have activated the Segment as document splitting characteristic for general ledger but now my client is asking to activate the new splitting characterstic as Profit center.

How system will consider the this requirement since we already posted the transactions and we have a old splitting characteristic ( Segment )

Please suggest me to complete the above requirement and what are steps require to active the new splitting characteristic.

Thanks

Risha

Hi,

As long as segment recieves its posting from profit center only so I don't think you should select Profit Center characteristic.

I will recomend that you can activate Profit Center as your characteristic but don't deselect segment.

Hi Risha,

As per SAP ECC 6.0 New Ledger standard, we can activate up to 06 scenarios for Leading ledger. As per your Customeru2019s requirement, now you can activate the new splitting characteristic as Profit center as additional/along with existing splitting characteristic u201CSegmentu201D.

Requirements :

a) If you elect to use additional splitting characteristics, you should manage these characteristics in at least one ledger

b) You should always set the u201Czero balanceu201D flag if you plan to use the characteristics to create financial statements. You need to set the u201Czero balanceu201D flag for both the splitting characteristics u201CProfit Centeru201D and u201Csegmentu201D in Customizing-> Financial Accounting (New)>General Ledger Accounting(New)>Business Transactions>Document splitting> Define document splitting Characteristics for General Ledger Accounting

c) If you want to activate new Document splitting characteristics, it should be done at the start of the financial year. Otherwise, you may not correct Segment or Profit center-wise financial statements
