Restoring Oracle database on windows using DB Configuration Assistance

Former Member

Hi,

I have installed one virtual system on windows using VMWare and I have installed Oracle software on that server without creating the database. I have the backup of the physical system. I have started the system copy into the target system i.e virtual system. Now I need to restore the database into the target system in which no oracle database is created. Could you please suggest me the solution how to restore the database into the target system.

Thanks in advance.

Keep in mind that there is no support for Oracle running under VMware.

Check the system copy guides at

Basically you will need to create script of the control file from the source database and adapt it.

DBCA is not used in SAP environments.

Hi Markus,

This is the development system and not the production system. And I have the system copy guide also. But no where is mentioned about the oracle restoration. As there is no database created on the server, I cann't use BR tools to restore the database. Could you please suggest me any other options to restore the database.

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

Hello Mogileeswar,

> As there is no database created on the server, I cann't use BR tools to restore the database

Of course you can use the BR*Tools for that. If you don't have a database you have to restore and recover it.

Read the documentation about the BR*Tools here:
