Serial/batch valuation method will calculate item cost based on a logic similar to moving average

Hello, Dick Smith

Yes, similar, but not identical!

There is a difference: When a GRPO is received, SAP may recalculate both:

#1. The closing stock value of the batch, and

#2. The value (transaction value) of the GRPO (or any other inbound transaction).

And SAP calculates the batch cost in a weird way! As:

Batch Cost per Unit = Total Value of all GOODS RECEIPTS / Total Qty of all GOODS RECEIPTS

Unlike the Moving Average method, SAP considers only Incoming Goods Received, not Goods Issued!

I know this thread is > 2 years old, but I am having a similar question (no answers so far!)

Maybe you may wish to have a look? 🙂

Does anybody ever use Serial/Batch Valuation Method?
