backup /usr/sap/SID before SPS upgrade downtime phase

Good day!

I'm trying to create a copy of the directory /usr/sap/SID directory as per the note before the downtime phase. But upon copying this folder I'm getting errors.

can you help to advice what other options or strategy to take.
