Changing delivered BW documetn number to become Master Data

This is a data modeling question. Some of the Document numbers in BW are not defined as Master Data (example: 0AC_DOC_NO). Are there any internal SAP issues (either in BW, or in BW->R3 data extaction) if we re-defining these documents as Master Data in BW? We would like to add attributes to 0AC_DOC_NO, and use it as Master Data on more than one Infocube. I'm wonding if something like document number range processing in memory, etc, will be adversely affected.

Hi....very interesting question....i have to do the same...in some cases the infoobject has not master data but remember that if you add some attributes you only can use it as display atribute or at most an navigational attribute, but the use of navigational attributes down the report performance.....

If it is only a single characteristic you can include it on the infocube....

Hi Theresa,

To my knowledge, there should be no problem with this. InfoObjects like 0CUSTOMER and 0VENDOR are extended quite often. The only thing I can think of that you may want to watch out for is the master data activation time. Since 0AC_DOC_NO is such a high volume master data object, any substantial changes to it's master data could result in a long amount of time required to compelte the rollup.

Another thing to consider is that 0AC_DOC_NO is essentially the transactional data key. Depending on your business requirements, it might be more effective to use and ODS Object (or DSO) and use an InfoSet or MultiProvider to combine the data.
