Dear experts,
we are restructuring our functional locations.
Example:
Old structure: Building1-Stage1-B1 -heater
New structure: Building1-Stage1-B1000-heater
Means: Old Functional Location (FL) Building1-Stage1-B1 -heater will be new one Building1-Stage1-B1000-heater.
But the Object (here heater) will be the same just with a new identifyer (FL).
I am absolutely sure that I cannot simply tell the system that Building1-Stage1-B1 -heater is now Building1-Stage1-B1000-heater.
So I need to define new FL with ID Building1-Stage1-B1000-heater, mark old one for delection or deactivate this and that's it.
But with this I lose my equipment history. Is there any chance to "copy" or "transfer" the equipment history / equipment usage from one FL to another one?
I guess not but please correct me if I am wrong.
Many thanks in advance.
Best regards
Patrick
Hi Patrick,
Do you have the alternative labeling system on? You could check this on a Floc by choosing Extra - alternative identifications, or just look at the customizing entry for switching on alternative labeling. (default is off). When turned on, you have to define a default labeling system and a new structure mask. Then you can relabel your current Floc's and there is no need for archiving the old one.
Preferably you should try this procedure in a sandbox system before using it in a productive scenario. Then you could also dry-run the conversion scenario for the full floc scope and test all important PM processes afterwards.
Hope this helps,
Kind regards,
Taekele
