Success Factors - Foundation Objects

Hello,

Please can anybody provide information on how associations are created between foundation objects in Employee Central?

For example how can an association be defined for one Business Unit to lets say four Divisions.

Thanks

Andy

You can read about it in the Master implementation guide at http://service.sap.com/ec-ondemand

Hi Andrew,

As Luke said if you go through the implementation guide u will get clear idea of it.

I can simply say. Association is like relationship between objects. FO to FO (Foundation object) or  GO to GO  (generic object) even FO to GO.

You can have ONE- ONE or ONE to MANY relationship between objects.

Ex. If you want to filter Division (GO) based one Business Unit (GO) then have to do the association (ONE to MANY- Relationship) between these objects.

Hi Guys,

Thank you very much for your responses.

I am currently training in Employee Central and I am working on a mock project.

I have a few more questions which I hope you can help with:

1. Let's say I have the following Foundation Objects defined and I want to link them in a hierarchical order using Associations:

Legal Entity: U.K

Business Unit: Plastics

Divisions: Distribution, Manufacturing and R & D

How would I set the Associations?

2. Employee Profile is used in integration with Recruitment Management. What is Employee Profile and where is this setup?

3. I am in the process of completing the Foundation Objects and Employee Data workbooks. Time Management and Position Management are not in scope. Are there any other workbooks which also need completing at this stage?

4. Is there anything else I need to do/know about the configuration workbook stage?

Many thanks

Andy

Hi Andy,

1. You set them up in the Corporate Data Model as per the EC Master Implementation handbook

2. Employee Profile is a subset of non-effective dated employee data that is used for talent processes. The Employee Profile can be used in conjunction with EC and data is synchronized in real-time from EC to Employee Profile, when EC is used.

3. The Transactions workbooks is used for workflows and event derivation, which is part of self-services.

4. There is lots... Where do I begin?

Best regards,

Luke

Hi Luke,

Thank you so much for your reply.

ESS/MSS is in scope and for this we require to complete the Transactions workbooks?

Is there anything else please?

You help is highly appreciated!

Hi Andy,

Yes, you would complete it. You can also document other requirements, like permissions and Generic Objects.

Best regards,

Luke
