How to trigger approval for changing/updating the notes in the approved purchase order in SAP Byd

Can anybody help me to get a material grouping structure for Civil construction materials.(Oil & Gas) For e.g. Mechanical - Piping - Pipes, Same like in Civil Materials. Thanks in Advance!!!
