Good post.However it is worth to point out this approach is technically not a "Adaptation" project. It is rather a "legacy" way of extension provided by WebIDE initially now in BAS, which won't be applicable to most "modern" fiori apps.Some more back...

You can explore the "save as tile" button in most fiori apps, which allows user to add a personalised tile in "My Home" section on top of the launchpad page. It might be an option for the user.
