Which Objects are saved using SAPR3SYS command

Hi,

Please tell me what objects are saved with the following command. My feeling is only R3 database and the IFS entries that belong to R3.

SAVP01: SAVR3SYS SID(P01) DEV('/QSYS.LIB/TAP81.DEVD') +

R3STS(RUN) IFS(('/idoc10/' *INCLUDE) +

('/interfaces/P01/')) SAVDB(YES) +

SAVCFG(YES) SAVACTWAIT(7200) / Save SAP +

P01 instance for SLC */

The main question is what is in SID(P01) .

I believe the path /usr/sap/P01 is included in the above.

Thanks,

Sailesh K

Hi Sailesh

I assume that you are using SAP R/3 version SAP R/3 4.6C and OS release V5 R1M0.

/usr/sap/p01 is not saved into the tape.

In order to include /usr/sap/P01, you have to explicitly to include in IFS option of SAVR3SYS command.

SAVR3SYS command backup the Database library R3<SID>DATA , configuration objects (something related to OS kernel etc) /idoc/* directory and its contents, /interface/* directory and its contents.

What is in SID(P01) means onwer of objects or database library or kernel library are owned by P01OFR but does not mean all the objects owned by SID(P01) will be saved to the tape.

For your information, SAVR3SYS command is obsolete

Instead you run command SAVLIB for backup of specified library to tape and SAV command for backup of IFS i.e. Filesystem directories and its contents to tape.

SAVLIB is advantage and better than SAVR3SYS command in terms of online database backup.

Thanks and Regards
