Hello ranjanvikash_426

I didn't find the BW version information. Anyways, BEx broadcasting is supported on all versions of BW on HANA JAVA stack required (except option 3 below). If you are migrating form older version or non HANA version to BW on HANA, there are multiple ways to achieve BEx broadcasting. Java stack is must for first 2 option. Broadcasting setup will remain the same in both options.

Option 1: Migrate Java and ABAP stack in split environment and upgrade them separately. Advantage : you migrate old setup and object related to broadcasting.

Disadvantage: additional maintenance.

Option 2: If you do not care of old JAVA objects (broadcasting setups) then migrate ABAP stack and install BI JAVA stack fresh from scratch.
Advantage: Clean installation and less errors. Low maintenance compared to option1.

Disadvantage: You loose your previous broadcasting setup and configurations.

Option 3: Setup a separate environment for precalculation. This environment can be setup separately and have flexibility in-terms of multiple OS support.
Advantage: less to no dependency on BW server. Clean and easy setup.

Disadvantage: Separate maintenance required

Checklist for Precalculation Server

I worked on all of the options mentioned above (with different version of BW) and here are my support experience and recommendation in sequence.

  • If you are using Analysis for Office for reporting and have BusinessObjects BI platform, then BIP add-in based broadcasting is best in-terms of functions and feature readiness.Though we have noticed Analysis workbooks have low limit in-terms of how many rows it can broadcast (compared to BEx workbooks)
  • Precalculation Server based setup comes second due to its ease of support and additional broadcasting functions support. This less prone to outage and errors.
  • Last separate stack of BI JAVA based setup with clean installation during migration (instead of migrating JANA stack)

Note: BEx broadcasting is not supported from BW4HANA onward.

Hope this helps. If you find this informaiton helpful, appreciate if you can accept answer or up-vote.
Good luck with your new setup.

Thanks,

Vijayeta

Please see this document - https://archive.sap.com/documents/docs/DOC-59795 - sounds like it will work if you have the Java stack
