I am currently working on a new pilot project that involves integrating Power BI and SAP BW using the “SAP Business Warehouse Application Server” connector.
As of now, I have gotten Power BI Desktop to connect to SAP BW, and I have created several test reports. The connection seems to be working well in this regard.
However, Power BI Desktop is not respecting the user authorization/roles created in SAP BW.
Power BI Desktop currently shows all info providers and info cubes (158) regardless of logged-in user’s SAP BW permissions.
Self-service reporting using Power BI is a goal of this pilot project, and data governance is a crucial requirement for self-service reporting by non-IT users.
Is it possible to configure Power BI Desktop to respect SAP BW authorizations by making some changes to the underlying SAP BW system?
Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
