Dear Members,
Our customer is going to migrate SAP systems to new hardware as existing hardware is going to be out of support soon. Initially we thought that we should use quicksizer for sizing of new hardware but SAP told us not to use quick sizer as it is only beneficial for initial sizing.
I have gone through the sizing decision tree and got to the conclusion that hardware re-sizing is best suited in our case.
Can someone please share there experience on re-sizing. What are the key factors we need to take in consideration. Also please let me know how I can calculate hardware size with re-sizing option.
Regards
Krishan
Hi Krishna,
You may make use of Solution Manager EWA reports to capture inputs on
1) Memory utilization
2) CPU Utilization
3) Disk I/O
4) Other performance issues
Incase response to above points is less than 70% , then you may proceed to have similar configuration in new hardware as well.
Incase response to above points is more than 70% then you may think of adding up hardware resources.
How much should these hardware resource should be scaled will depend on user growth, data growth , performance bottlenecks (if any) etc.
Discuss all these parameters with respective hardware vendor who can help you re-size the new hardware platform.
Regards,
Deepak Kori
