doubt in reporting

I have a reporting requirement in which I have to calculate the number of days. The requirement is something like this:

A person receives his promotion on 01/20/2006 so when user pulls the report he wants to see how long that person has been in that position which means I will have to take the current date and then do subtract with the promotion date (System date - promotion date). The dilemma here is that the promotion date is listed as a characteristic and I can't include it in my calculated keyfigure. Please help.

In the example above, replace Valid from with calday and restrict it to the SAP exit variable current calendar day and replace Valid to with your promotion day
