Can't start the ESB

Hello all,

I'm trying to install the ESR on NetWeaver 7.3 EHP1 and I'm having trouble starting the ESB.  I followed the documentation at:

Steps:

Activated Services Registry functional unit

Set registry roles (Services_registry_read_write,  UDDI_TierN,

NWA_SuperAdmin)

Run wizard Registering Services Registry instance in SLD

Everything seems good except when I try to start the ESB  at http://hostname:port//rep I get the following error:

We have not installed PI but it was my understanding that you can run ESR without PI.  Any help would be greatly appreciated as we are under some time pressure.

I got past this particular issue by setting the application template to ESR.  That allowed me to start the ESB and import the ES bundles.  The next issue is how to link the service interfaces in the ESB to the ECC system.
