Hi Experts,
Currently we are in BI 4.1 SP4 on windows 2008 ,we are planning to upgrade BI version to 4.2 on windows 2012.I have seen below procedures to achieve this. Can you please suggest which one is better.
If you're keeping CMS DB then you should install same 4.1 version as current servers on new boxes, pointing that install to the same CMS DB (clustering them in) then removing original nodes. then upgrade new servers to 4.2
or
Install 4.2 on top of windows 2008 and move it to windows 2012 later (I am not sure about the movement from 2008 to 2012)
Thanks
We have BI 4.1 SP4 on windows 2008 server installed, while upgrading it to BI 4.2 sp3 on windows 2012 server. If we want to use the same old CMS.
Do I need to cluster new CMS with old one or I can directly give old CMS details during installation and it will connect from windows 2012 server.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hello,
Both options are valid but you need to decide what is the best for you.
If I am at your place I prefer - Install 4.2 on top of windows 2008 and move it to windows 2012 later (I am not sure about the movement from 2008 to 2012)
