Welcome back to my blog post series SAP Signavio - Process Insights: SAP Datasphere and SAP Analytics Cloud content "out of the box".

This blog post has the intention to give some background information about the newly released SAP Signavio - Process Insights Business content for SAP Datasphere and SAP Analytics Cloud with the focus on Automation Rate.

So let's start to understand the data basis first. One strength of SAP Signavio Process Insights are standard process performance indicators (PPI).  Those process performance indicators get process performance metrics based on data collected from your connected source system. In this blog post, it's all about the process performance indicators of category type "Automation Rate"

The performance indicators of category type "Automation Rate" measure the number of documents processed automatically or manually in a given timeframe (reference period). This lets you determine the ratio of documents that have been processed manually instead of automatically. With this information, you can increase process efficiency and drive process harmonization processes.

Typically, the data are collected once per week for a reference period of  -7 to -1 calendar days relative to the date of data collection. For more information about the data have a look in the corresponding Reference Guide. You can find it in the Process Performance Indicator view in SAP Signavio Process Insights:

SAP Signavio - Process Insights Business content for SAP Datasphere and SAP Analytics Cloud for Automation Rates harmonize all data collections in SAP Datasphere, so that you can smoothly report in SAP Analytics Cloud across various dimensions.

Maybe it's good to have a short recap from last blog post at this point:

Data from SAP Signavio Process Insights (running on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP)) are replicated into SAP Datasphere (via OData calls), modeled, enriched with semantics and then visualized in SAP Analytics Cloud.

To get an overview of all SAP Datasphere artefacts, you should have a detailed look into SAP Datasphere Business Content.  We would like to focus on the SAP Analytics Cloud part from now on.

Let's start with the first SAP Analytics Cloud story: Automation Rate Overview

It all starts with an overview page of all PPI's available at the time of content creation clustered by the corresponding End-to-End processes:

Landing Page.png

(For those, not yet familiar with SAP Analytics Cloud Business Content: This page can be found in SAP Analytics Cloud by clicking on the files icon in the main menu (left side) and navigating to the path Files/My Files/public/SAP_Content/SAP_SIG_PINS/ SAP_SIG_PINS_ProcessInsights / SAP_SIG_PINS_AutomationRate.)

This "Automation Rate Overview" story gives you an birds eye perspective about the status of selected "Automation Rates" and "Number of objects created" in a selected month and for a selected logical system. To choose another month or another time granularity or another logical system, you can easily use the offered filters "Selection Date" and "Logical System":

Once, one of the "Automation Rates" gets your attention and you would like to deep dive into the numbers, you can click on this tile and use the inbuild navigation to jump directly into the corresponding detailed story:

Let's jump to the detailed story of each process performance indicator in SAP Analytics Cloud

For each process performance indicator available in the "Automation Rate Overview" story, a detailed story was realized with at least 2 pages, which have always the same "look and feel", to ease the navigation and comprehension as much as possible.

On the first page, you get a more detailed overview, always focussing on the important measures when it comes to Automation Rate:

Automation Rate in percentage

# of documents created

# of documents created automatically

# Number of documents created manually

On the header you get the aggregated value according to the selection of the page filter (e.g. in this example "Billing Document Creation Date = Nov, 2023", "Document Category = All" and "Logical System = All")

nic_0-1709634045725.png

In the main part, you get those measures grouped by TOP 10 of the most important organizational unit (e.g. company code) and additional helpful dimensions according to the corresponding PPI (as for example in this case "Sales Organization", "Billing Type" and "Transaction Code" for the performance indicator "Sales Billing documents created").

On the second page, the header (including the page filters) stays the same, but the main part now gives you a table with the same measures and  all members of the organizational unit (in this example company code) in the columns sorted by the number of documents created. Thus you can see at a glance the improvement ratio in case of bad automation rate values and high number of documents created.

To be able to compare company codes, you can use the left chart with the grey border in the main part as a filter. Mark there the corresponding members and the table and the header will be filtered accordingly:

Those are the two pages per detailed view which has been created for every process performance indicator in the overview page.

Some stories have additional pages

For some process performance indicators (but not yet for all), we also realized a time series view with additional metrics and possibilities:

And again, the header has the measures and filters, however this time, the data filter realized by a time hierarchy of Year/Quarter/Month/Day:

In the main part, the chart with the grey border enables you to filter too on the time values and all charts will be filtered accordingly. You have additional measures as # of company codes, # of payment terms etc., however, I will finish at this point and let you find out by yourself in your system what's available. Enjoy:)

Summary

I hope you now have an idea of what we realized in SAP Signavio - Process Insights Business content for SAP Datasphere and SAP Analytics Cloud for Automation Rates. The content can be deployed out of the box via the content network and you can jump start an individual analytics project around automation rates by adapting and evolving the content together with business user and technology experts.

In my next blog post, I will present SAP Signavio - Process Insights Business content for SAP Datasphere and SAP Analytics Cloud for Days Payable Outstanding – Supplier Invoice Issuing with Purchase Order.

Regards and stay curious,
