Some of the limitations of Webdynpro ABAP are as follows:

SAP System Prior to SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (NW2004s)

Web Dynpro ABAP is not released for official use in systems prior to SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (NW2004s).

SAP NetWeaver 7.00 and 7.10

Web Dynpro ABAP is officially released starting SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (NW2004s).The following general limitations exist:

  • No mobile device support-Mobile devices are not supported for/in Web Dynpro ABAP.
  • Web browser related limitations

Web Dynpro ABAP does not provide a controled behavior for the new window (Ctrl+N) functionality of Web browsers. This browser function should not be used as part of the application flow.

For information on Firefox limitations see also SAP note 1089062.
  • No SAP GUI support

The use of Web Dynpro ABAP applications inside SAP GUI is not supported due to technical restrictions which may inhibit the correct behavior of applications under some circumstances.
  • No support for SAP GUI dynpros

Calling classic SAP GUI based dynpros by Web Dynpro ABAP is not supported, neither directly, e.g. via CALL SCREEN, nor indirectly via CALL TRANSACTION, SUBMIT REPORT etc.

Note that from NetWeaver 7.0 SP12 onwards, if a Dynpro is called, there is no longer a program dump. Instead, an exception is raised in the associated internal mode. Note that in an input help, an error message is displayed accordingly, so that the application can be continued.
  • BIApplicationFrame limitations

The BIApplicationFrame UI element only supports the execute and drilldown command. The BIApplicationFrame for Web Dynpro ABAP does not support BI Web Applications for Java with Netweaver 7.0.
  • Popup-related limitations

For Web Dynpro popups it is not possible to set their size programmatically.
A popup displayed on top of an Adobe Form may cause flickering. Under certain circumstances the popup may become hidden under the Adobe form.

All UI elements that are derived from AbstractActiveComponent (Gantt, Network, OfficeControl, InteractiveForm) are not supported in popups.
  • eCATT

eCATT is not supported for Web Dynpro ABAP.
  • Value help for date fields

    See SAP note 1056623.
  • Internet Explorer 8

Internet Explorer 8 is supported for Web Dynpro ABAP starting SP20.
  • Firefox 2.0

The UI elements Gantt, Network, and OfficeControl are not supported in Firefox.
  • Firefox 3.0

Firefox 3.0 is supported in SAP NetWeaver 7.00 for Web Dynpro ABAP starting SP19.

  • SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe

The Interactive Forms by Adobe is supported for the 32-bit version of browsers only.
Supported Adobe Reader versions: The solution is generally available starting Adobe Reader version 7.0.9 (Note that there are additional browser and platform restrictions, see below).

SAP recommends to use the newest available Adobe Reader version. Note that the HTTPS protocol is supported by Adobe Readers as of Version 8.1 only.

As of SAP NetWeaver 7.00 SPS10 it's strongly recommended to use ZCI forms with an XML interface only instead of ACF based forms. Because additional central features have been added in subsequent SPs (input help and dropdown list boxes), it's generally recommended that the most up-to-date Support Package for Web Dynpro ABAP should be installed.

The Web Dynpro Context which is bound to the property "dataSource" of the interactiveForm UI element must not contain Attributes of complex datatype, i.e. Attributes which are typed with structures, internal tables or reference types are not supported (sole exception: print forms having a DDIC interface).
Furthermore, the Context node names and the Attribute names must not have a namespace prefix.
  • Office Integration

The Microsoft Office Integration is supported for the 32-bit version of Microsoft Office in combination with Internet Explorer 32-bit version. 64-bit Internet explorer and 64-bit Microsoft Office are only supported together with installation of Microsoft Office Integration.
