Hello Community,

In this blog, we'll explore the process of integrating your SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) Trial account with Eclipse, unlocking many opportunities for easy and smooth development within the SAP environment. This walk through aims to guide you through each step, ensuring a trouble-free shift from initial setup to active development.

Pre-requisites:

  • A valid SAP BTP Trial account

  • Access to the Service Marketplace within your SAP BTP Trial account

  • Eclipse IDE installed on your system with ABAP Cloud Project support

  • Valid credentials (username and password) for your SAP BTP Trial account

  • Basic familiarity with SAP terminology and concepts for a smoother integration process.

Step 1:

Creating an SAP BTP Trial Account:

Begin by creating an SAP BTP Trial account and setting up a sub account. Fill in the mandatory fields as illustrated in the accompanying screenshot. This foundational step sets the stage for your development environment.

Step 2:

Activating ABAP Environment Service:

Navigate to the Service Marketplace and select the ABAP environment. Activate the service. Additionally, verify that there is available space within your sub account. If needed, you can create a new space under the Cloud Foundry Environment. It's worth noting that Cloud Foundry is typically activated by default, eliminating any concerns on that front.

Step 3:

Eclipse Installation and Setup:

In Eclipse, click on File > New > Others. From the list of options, select "ABAP Cloud Project". This selection sets the stage for your ABAP development within Eclipse.

Step 4 :

Configuring SAP S/4 HANA Cloud ABAP Environment:

After selecting the ABAP Cloud Project, click "Next". Choose the SAP S/4 HANA Cloud ABAP Environment.

A pop-up will prompt you for the ABAP Service Instance URL.

Retrieve this URL from your SAP BTP Trial account under Instances, as depicted in the screenshot.

Click on "Open Logon Page in Browser". This action will redirect you to the SAP BTP Trial login page, where you'll need to enter your credentials. Once logged in successfully, you'll encounter the screen depicted in the provided screenshot.

Step 5:

Successful Integration:

Congratulations! You've now successfully established a connection between your SAP BTP Trial account and Eclipse.

On the left-hand side of the screen, you'll notice the "Connected system". In the example provided below, the user ID for connected system is "TRL, 100, CB9980000894".

This connection grants you access to your own development package. Remember that this access is limited to a specific duration, as outlined in the screenshot.

You're all set! Now you can effortlessly develop and deploy within the SAP BTP environment using Eclipse. This seamless integration opens the door to a world of possibilities.

Happy coding!😊
