Today, August 4th, SAP IBP 2308 was generally released.

Sometimes it’s the small features that have the biggest impact and from the many votes in Customer Influence, we know that you have desperately been waiting for this one: The Reset Changes button in the SAP IBP, add-in for Microsoft Excel is finally here!

With SAP IBP 2308, we’re also introducing the new Network Aggregation Operator, a tool designed to calculate costs and carbon emissions per product, allowing you to make informed decisions that align with your sustainability objectives.

We're excited to share with you some of the latest updates and features:

Planning UIs

Resetting Changes in Your Planning View

Reviewing and updating numbers in extensive spreadsheets is a common activity in a planner’s workday. Because of the sheer size of the lists, mistakes can happen, and you maybe update the wrong cells. Luckily, the SAP IBP, add-in for Microsoft Excel supports you here from two angles: The changed cells are colored differently, so that you can easily spot them and with release 2308 you can now also reset your unsaved changes.

The value change can be reset without refreshing the complete planning view or by manually restoring the previous values. You can either select one cell, a range of cells, or several ranges of cells in the data area of your planning view and specifically reset the selected ones.

Not only changed key figure values and their formatting will be reset, but also changes related to planning notes, and fixing of key figure values.

Demand

Planning Volatile Demand with Range Forecasting for Automated Exponential Smoothing

Prediction intervals provide information on the expected minimum and maximum forecast for specific confidence levels set by the user. The number ranges can be used, for example, to analyze the status of the supply and take faster decisions to improve the availability of goods.
The automated exponential smoothing algorithm can now calculate two intervals at a time and users can choose to save either or both, the lower and upper boundaries for any of the intervals.

Prediction intervals are calculated based on the distribution of the historical data and the predictable patterns like seasonality and trend. Phase-in and phase-out curves are applied to prediction intervals.

Sales & Operations Planning

Supporting Tactical Decisions with Cost and Carbon Rollup

The new Network Aggregation Operator calculates the cost or carbon emissions per unit of a product for a specific location and period by rolling-up the cost/carbon emissions incurred throughout the supply chain. Network aggregation enables you to estimate profit margins, analyze profitability, and evaluate sustainability at a granular level. It helps planners make tactical decisions about sourcing and transit routes and even considers macro-economic factors like inflation.

The operator transfers cost/carbon emissions of materials from upstream nodes to downstream nodes of a supply network using the quantities of material flowing through it.

It takes into account the costs and emissions of materials held in inventory in a specific period to calculate the costs and emissions in subsequent periods.

The operator can also evaluate which share of the unit cost of a finished product is due to production, transportation, etc.

Maintenance, Repair, and Operations

Out-of-the Box Integration Content for Project System and Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO)

We now provide content that allows you to integrate master data and key figure data relevant to Project System with the enhanced MRO sample planning area SAP9.

This integration content makes it possible to consider MRO parts and labor resources arising from Project System and combine this demand with the demand that comes from plant maintenance. It provides better visibility on the total MRO parts and labor resources, possible availability issues of MRO parts, and resource overutilization.

The out-of-the box integration content includes master data and key figure data extractors for the integration add-ons, data integration templates in SAP Cloud Integration for data services, and an enhancement guide for the SAP9 Sample planning area.

Providing Accurate Inventory Parameters for Intermittent Demand

The new MRO Inventory Planning Operator calculates inventory parameters such as safety stock, reorder point, and target inventory position for parts used in Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO).

The operator uses the Poisson distribution which is effective in determining inventory parameters for parts with sporadic demand. It provides more accurate inventory parameters for items with intermittent demand and thus helps to reduce inventory holding costs and improves asset uptime.

The operator can be run at aggregate level to support location or product pooling.
