Hello Experts,
Please see the below discussion initiated by me:
Actually, this discussion is adding points in my account automatically . When I opened it from my mail account to SCN then I got my own reply marked as "Correct Answer'
I then unmarked it as correct but when I opened it again then +10 were added .
Please suggest on this 'Free Scheme'
Warm Regards
Saurabh
Kudos for "complaining" about too many points, that's really a first!
More constructively, I have observed that reputation history is not adjusted along with the lifetime total. For example, when you earn points after spoon-feeding a lazy one and the FAQ is being deleted subsequently, you can still see the credit entry in your history (the link is now missing), however the illegal profit has been deducted from your total.
Try marking and unmarking my reply here as helpful a few times, and compare my history and total before and afterwards.

Yep, that is because the History just shows the positive side (gaining), but not (yet?) the negative side (when you loose points again).
I guess because of this a lot of the "Where did my points go?!"-questions here in the Support-space are happening, because you just see the loss on the Expertise-page, when you flip the space-tiles.
In this case it is different. Ponits are assigned by moderator as there is no direct "assume answered" option anymore without them. OP can remove the status but not the beloved needful units. If moderator did it, it would be removed. But that means moderator can add the "correct answer" status again, and again, and again...
That is what happened when I closed the guru's thread because of points mongering which followed. When I looked again (Saurab also did not believe his eyes and removed it again seconds after me), then it was gone. So I checked that I did not click on the wrong post, and hit the button again.
Saurab is now 10 points closer to Jürgen L than what he would otherwise have been..
But we could script it and catch up very fast...
Cheers,
Julius
ps: Of course you need a moderator to play such a points game, and that is unlikely to happen... but might be worth keeping an eye on none-the-less...
Saurabh is actually a prototype. He is technically a file called saurabh.c which we have performance optimized now for dual processing in the cloud on HANA with multi threading to the DB and control it centrally from SOLMAN. Current prognosis is Sunday to overtake you at about 14:00, this year, this week... (we took the weather into consideration that you will BBQ on Saturday afternoon).
Cheers and tata... 😉

In the meanwhile the table counts reached +30.
Now, all the moderators in Security forum are colliding with each other to mark "resolved by self' as correct answer.
That discussion contains only 3 posts and the total points count on it is +35.
If this keeps on going than I will be awarded with a badge of "extraordinary performer of the month"
Hi everyone,
I don't know if there is an outstanding question here.
To summarize:
1/ People cannot earn points for things they do themselves:
- You can't like or rate your own content, therefore you can't get points for that
- You can mark your own answer as correct or helpful to help other members identify the solution to a problem, but you will not get the points for that. If you unmark the correct/helpful answer no points are removed.
2/ Moderators can mark anyone's answer correct or helpful, and thereby give the points to the author. And if they unmark it the points will be lost. In Saurabh's scenario here I assume he unmarked his answer and did not lose the points, and Julius must have thought there was a glitch and marked it again, for the second time, giving Saurabh the points again. I'm not sure because I may not see all the actions in the gamification platform (when someone marks/unmarks their own answer)
Bottom line, in very rare cases people will earn too many points, but we can always correct that if you want

Actually may be the question is marked "Correct Answer" by the moderator.
So you got the 10 points.. After when you unmark the Correct answer, system will not reduce any point from your account.
It happens two time for your discussion.
May be moderator marked the answer as correct because you have wrote
"It has been resolved already just based on AO and Activity combination."
So moderator think, it will be a valuable reply for others who will face the same problem.

May be Julius von dem Bussche can give you the explanation.
It can lead to 'Point -gaming' . SCN users/members can create discussion on their own complex scenarios and at the end they resolve it by themselves.
You cannot do this yourself - only moderators can.
You provided the answer yourself and then other speculants were asking you to "do the needful"... as you had not returned and the needful had been done, I took the liberty of closing it for you.
I do this on rare occasions - sorry for confusion.. 🙂
Julius
It will be reduce..
Just do as per following :
@ Saurabh Tiwari : Mark your own reply as answer correct.
Then
@ Julius von dem Bussche : Unmark the answer as correct answer.
Do it twice.
Then your points will be reduced and adjusted..
