Use of OCC

Dear all

based on discussion running here: https://answers.sap.com/questions/364675/how-to-deleted-data-for-one-value-assignment-for-m.html

I would like to get some feedback regarding these questions

But first the statements:

1.) Using OCC we can do a "regulatory" update based on XML file; the process (this is my understanding) makes sure that data is inserted, updated or deleted

2.) using OCC and using a "EXCEL" like data structure we can do an import of data

Now the questions:

For 2.) there is no indication in the OCC documentation available: what is the process to "delete" data (which has been imported e.g. by error); But it is well known tha the "offline" Import option can be used to support deletion => do i miss any documentation here? So can we "delete" data easily using EXCEL approach with OCC?

But we know that option 1.) can be used of delete data (e.g. sometimes a regulation is cancelled; but you still have data in the system).

Question is now:

One could generate a "XML" file e.g. for properties as density and then using approach one, one should be able to "load". But can i delete as well? Or as discussed in the other thread "update"? Or is an update, as discussed in the other thread, only possible if you delete first and then do the update?

I need to understand a little bit better. is there any "pro" to use OCC instead of EHS Standard import (which we normally use)?

C.B.

Hello Christoph

As mentioned by you EHS OCC is used to load I. Regulatory content which is XML data ii. Load Substance data iii. Generate phrase / substance dat files from file format and iv. directly load the substance data in online mode.

EHS OCC basically inherited some of the features of Legacy Data Editor, however it did not have all the functionalities and you need to rely on the data load transaction in ECC. Using which you can control the data write / delete / re - import parameters.

Now coming to your questions, unfortunately we can not generate xml file based on the excel data and SAP do not give that as a default functionality. If you want to generate a xml file it can be done via a custom code with xml schema so that exact import structure can be replicated.

Currently with the existing EHS OCC functionality it is recommended to generate the dat file using the input and then use the import parameters in the EHS Transaction and do the editing.

Thanks and Regards

Jayakumar
