Scrap % at operation - relevant for Planning?

Hello Gurus,

I have a Question About Operation scrap %.

It seems that if i maintain Operation scrap then i can see less quantity in the following operations inside the production order. That Point is clear.

Anyways what i do not understand, is why the System is not planning more quantity as we already know that we will have some % of scrap?

If i open a production order with 100 qty. 10% scrap at Operation 0010

Operations

0010 qty 100
0020 qty 90
0030 qty 90

MD04 Shows 100 pieces to be received. Only as soon as I confirm the first Operation, then the System recognize the shortage in MD04.

My Question is. why is the System not planning 10 pieces more from the beginning?

thank you

Hi,

Thanks for the quick feedback & comments.
If you are looking to increase the Operation Qty, in the Production Order, depending on the Scrap Qty maintained, here is one Scenario ( By maintaining the Assembly Scrap % in the Material Master of the Header Material Ex : 10%). Then System will Plan the Operation Qty of each of the Operation, with 110, for the Order Qty of 100). Please take a look of the attached screenshot for the same.

Step 1 : Maintained the Assembly Scrap ( Ex :10%), in the Material Master for the Header Material.

Step 2: Created the Production Order for the Qty of 100 , then the System will automatically increases the Qty to 110, because of the above Master data maintained as Assembly Scrap(10%)

Step 3 : If you look at the Operation Qty >>> all the Operations, 10. 20.30 are increased with the Qty of 110 ( Even though the Production Order qty =100)

Hope, this is very Clear now. Kindly check & revert back, if you have nay further questions.
If it resolves your issue, please close this thread by accepting & the suitable answer.

Hello rajasekaharareddy.bannuru,

thanks for the feedback.

Could you please help me to understand what its the impact, if i only maintain the scrap % inside the routing in the general data?

I seems that the following operation planned input quantity will decrease but the production order will only show a shortage once i confirm the operation where i maintained the scrap%.

I dont want to increase the production order quantity as you showed above. So my point is, what its then the real impact in planning if we maintained the scrap% only in the routing? (not in the material master and not inside the BOM)

thank you

Hi
Thanks for the kind feedback.
Please take a look of the scenario, mentioned by you & the same is replicated.
Operation Scarp is maintained at the Routing for one of the Operation Ex : Operation 10)
( Not in the Material Master & not in the OM). In this Case System behaviour is as follows.>>
During the Production Order creation, for the Order qty of 100 PCs, then for the Operation 10 will have the Qty of 100 & the next succeeding Operations 20 & 30 will have the Operation Qty as 90 & 90 Only. However, during the Operation Confirmation, for the Operations 20 & 30, the Confirmation Qty depends on the Confirmed qty of operation 10, If you Confirm 100 in Operation 10, 20 alos, can get the Yield Qty of 100 ( This is in editable mode & you can over ride this qty)
Please find the attached screenshots of this scenario.
Hope this is very clear to you now. Kindly award the points, if the issue is addressed completely.
Thanks & Regards : Raja

Hi
Based on my Understanding.
Operation scrap( Maintained in the BOM), mainly leads to increase in the required Component Qty, instead of increase in the Operation Qty. If you would like to Increase the Operation Qty, need to maintain the Assembly Scrap( in the Material Master). Please take a look of the below scenario, for which Operation Scrap was maintained as 5%in the BOM Item details screen. With this, if you create the Production Order for the 100 Qty, System is calculating the Component requirement Qty as 105. ( Extra 5%). Please find the attached screenshot of this scenario. Hope this is Clear. Kindly check revert back for any further assistance required. Thanks & Regards : Raja

Hello rajasekaharareddy.bannuru ,

yes the scrap from the BOM its clear. My question its more about the scrap inside the routing.

If i maintain it there, then what its happening with the planning
