Meet Mike, a Shop Floor Worker at a high-volume high tech manufacturing plant in US using SAP Digital Manufacturing.

Mike's day starts early as he arrives at his work center. First things first, he opens a worker UI called POD (Production Operator Dashboard) and clocks in to capture his attendance for the day.

Then, he checks his work list and see the production orders planned for the day.

With everything lined up, he kicks off his tasks. His first job? Following the work list, he starts the first operation in the work list and also performs a 'Labor On' to start tracking time against the parts he is working on.

Mike's actual assembly work begins by referring to the 3D model work instructions. These instructions provide him with clear, step-by-step guidance through 3D models and animations on how to carry out each assembly operation.

As he assembles and consume components, he makes sure to collect traceability data along the way.

Mike then performs some data collection, capturing relevant process parameters like diameter and torque, in this case.

After a stretch of work, Mike perform an 'Indirect Labor On' to start capturing time for a quick break for some required training. It's important to stay sharp and learn new skills!

Once he is back from the training, Mike completes assembling the part and performs a quick visual inspection, with AI assistance.

Thankfully, no defect is found and the part passes inspection.

But, before completing the assembly operation, Mike logs some torque wrench tool usage in both quantity and time for traceability and calibration purposes.

Once assembly operation is complete, Mike creates a WIP Transport request to send the part to quality inspection work center using AGVs (automated guided vehicle).

Once the part arrives at the destination, the quality inspection work center, an in-process quality inspection process takes place, which also come out successful.

Mike completes the quality and final operation, which triggers a buyoff approval requirement. This buyoffis timely approved by Sarah, the production supervisor, and the part is now done.

Mike then packs the part securely and sends it off for shipping.

But just when things seem smooth, Mike notices he's running out of material to continue his work.

No problem. He creates a downtime entry, citing "Lack of Materials" as the reason code.

And raises an alert to his supervisor, requesting more components.

Once the additional material arrives at his work center, Mike picks up where he left off.

As the shift draws to a close, he clocks out and heads home, knowing he's contributed to a day of efficient production.
