SAP DM - Components are getting assembled without starting operation activity.

Hi experts,

I have noticed that it is allowed to assemble components even if the SFC/Operation activity is started or not (at least in my system). I want to avoid that and have a check before component assembly so that it checks for the status of the SFC and then assembles the components if the SFC has started.

Please let me know if there is a way to do this by default by SAP DM.

If not, I am trying to do the same by creating a production process that checks for the status of the SFC and then does-
1. nothing if the SFC is started
2. deletes the component assembled if the SFC was not started.

NOTE: I am triggering this PP by using a business service -

Im facing an issue here as well - when im adding in the component assembly, the component is getting assembled without triggering this business rule. Can you please point out something that Im missing for this to work or any other approach?

Thanks & Regrds.
Harsh

Hi Harsh,

Regarding 'Requests a component assembly' Business Rule not being triggered from POD, please check SNote #3406777.

Regarding your 'allow assemble only after start' requirements, I can propably think of several different ways to address it, including standard plugin extensions. However, a very simple way to address it could be:

  1. Remove all instances of 'Component List' and 'Assemble Components' plugins from your POD in POD Designer.
  2. Behind Start action button, right after the existing 'Start' plugin, add 'Assemble Components' plugin in the sequence.
  3. At minimum, configure 'Assemble Components' plugin to 'Choose Auto Next' and 'Independent Mode'. You can also configure other options and popup type, size, etc.

With this config in place, only after you click Start action button, 'Assemble Components' will show up in a popup, which should address your requirements.

Hope it helps,

Manoel

Hi Manoel,

Thanks for the detailed reply. I'll check out the SNote and also try the method you have mentioned.

Thanks & Regards.
