Courses with an online pre-req that needs to be completed within 30 days of the course

We have several courses (in person) that require an online training to be completed within 30 days of attending the class. Obviously we can set the online item as a prerequisite but this does not account for the 30 day window.

We tried to use a duration based program and a forced order where the online has to be done first but the program overrides the pre-req and users are allowed to register for the course as long as they are enrolled in the program.

Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone have any suggestions on how we can handle this situation?

One option would be to create an assignment profile to select the users with a completion that equals the prerequisite online course and tie that to a curriculum that contains the item that you want completed within 30 days. 

For the curriculum settings I would use the following settings:

Field	Selection
Initial Basis	Event
Required Date Basis	Assignment Date
Basis Date
Threshold
Threshold Days
Initial Period	Days
Initial Number	30

Also consider whether or not you want to 'give credit' for past completions and fill out the Give Credit for Past History area as needed. 

This requires users to complete the course within 30 days of assignment. They would be assigned as soon as they fit the AP criteria (of online item completed).
