Unable to create a manual journal entry after upgrade to FC 10.1 SP09

Hi Experts,

We recently upgraded from SAP FC 10.0 SP19 PL10 to FC 10.1 SP09 PL03. We're using SQL Server 2012 and not on HANA.

Post upgrade we're getting an error message when trying to create a manual journal entry in the Windows client. The error message is 'Cannot open this journal entry. Problem with currency'. I checked if there is any existing SAP note for this issue in FC 10.1 but couldn't find one. If anybody has faced this issue previously please provide inputs on how to resolve this.

Hello phadke_manas,

Please go to Dimension Builder > Data Sources > Amounts > Reporting unit, and check that all entities have currencies mentioned (or at least the one that you use as default for MJE).

Thank you for your prompt reply Olga, we've 59 members in the RU dimension where we haven't specified a value in the Currency characteristic.

The reason we're getting this issue in FC 10.1 seems to be the default RU logic when creating MJE which was changed in SP04 from first value in Id (numeric) to first value in Code (alphanumeric). SAP Note 2445038 explains this change.
