I have recently received inquiries from customers and partners about tutorials on SAP Financial Compliance Management. So, I thought I would put together this short blog listing the videos already available for others who may have the same question.

Of course, I will update this blog as and when new tutorials are released.

Before we even start, as introduced by my colleagues Neil Patrick in his recent #GRCTuesdays blog Automatically synchronize Controls and Processes across Process Modelling and Assurance, “SAP Financial Compliance Management is an internal controls execution, monitoring, reporting and management solution, running on SAP Business Technology Platform”. As such, it is SAP’s Software-as-a-Service for automated and manual controls, control testing, and issue documentation.

In case you are not already familial with this solution, I would suggest you have a look at the overview video:

Setup and configuration

Since it is a SaaS solution, the setup is quite different from our historical OnPremise and Private Cloud solutions for Governance, Risk, and Compliance. To support customers and partners perform the required configuration activities, SAP has created a few tutorials covering the key areas:

Setup and Subscription

This video explains the process to setup a subaccount in the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) Cockpit and subscribe to SAP Financial Compliance Management.

Establishing Trust

This video explains how to establish trust for your subaccount and link it with users maintained in SAP Cloud Identity Services - Identity Authentication (IAS).

Setting Up Your Communication User, System, and Arrangement

In this video, you’ll learn how to create a communication user, configure your communication system, and setup your communication arrangement. This will connect the SAP S/4HANA Cloud system to SAP Financial Compliance Management.

Note: before you can proceed to the steps described in this video, you will first need to activate the scope item “Financial Operation Monitoring” (‏3KY‏) to obtain the business content that is available in SAP Financial Compliance Management. This scope item enables the automatic monitoring for different operation processes in SAP S/4HANA and SAP S/4HANA Cloud systems.

Maintaining Destinations

This video explains how to connect SAP Financial Compliance Management to source systems such as SAP S/4HANA, SAP S/4HANA Cloud or SAP ERP by maintaining destinations.

Note: the same caveat as just before applies here as well. Scope item “Financial Operation Monitoring” (‏3KY‏) must have been activated before you can maintain any destinations.

Configuring Destinations to Read User Data

In this video, you’ll learn how to create the destination used to read user data in the Manage Controls Fiori app which enables you to map controls to regulatory requirements, organization and business processes, as well as automated and manual procedures.

Granting Authorizations to Administrator User Groups

This video goes over the steps to assign a user group to a role collection. After defining the admin user, you need to assign that user to an administrator user group to grant them all required authorizations to SAP Financial Compliance Management.

Retrieving Users for Controls

This video illustrates how to retrieve users for the GRC Control Service – which includes the Manage Controls, My Controls and Manage Work Packages Fiori apps, by using the Control Settings app.

Note: you’ll first need to configure a specific destination in order to retrieve users from the SAP Cloud Identity Services - Identity Authentication tenant.

Creating and Assigning User Groups to Role Collections

This video explains how to create user groups in SAP Cloud Identity Services - Identity Authentication and how to assign them to role collections that are delivered with SAP Financial Compliance Management.

Assigning User Groups to Users

This last setup tutorial explains how to assign user groups to users in your SAP Cloud Identity Services - Identity Authentication tenant which you setup in your subaccount for SAP Financial Compliance Management. The user groups determine the authorization that are granted to a user such as what apps the user can access and what actions they can perform.

Business configuration

Now that the system is up and running, it’s time to implement your internal control framework by documenting your master data (organization, processes, regulations and control) but also by defining your manual and automated procedures and scheduling their execution.

Once again, we have some videos available to illustrate each of these steps:

Create and Maintain Organizations, Processes and Regulations

This video illustrates the steps to create an organizational hierarchy to document a company’s structure, but also capture its business processes and manage the legal and regulatory requirements. These are common objects which will be used in the definition and assessment of manual and automated controls.

Create and Maintain Controls and Procedures

This video goes over the process to create and maintain the internal control framework of the company, including the manual and automated checks.

Schedule Execution of Controls and Procedures

This video illustrates the steps an end-user needs to follow in the solution to schedule the execution of manual and automated controls.

Review Control Results from Manual and Automated Procedures

This final video isn’t related to business configuration per se, but I still think it is valuable here. It showcases how to access and review the control results for manual and automated procedure runs.
