How are you? I have excluded the Tag "SAP S/4HANA Cloud" and included the Tag "SAP S/4HANA Cloud for Supply Chain" for this question, as Storage Location is an Organizational Structure related to Supply Chain LoB.
While you are creating a new org structure you can choose the subtype. Once the Org unit is confirmed ( for all Org units and not only storage location ) they cannot be changed .
Now storage location is the subtype is the category of storage location . You can have a storage location which is used for Raw material or Finished goods or semi finished goods. That's the classification. We have internal configurations done when you deploy . We will give an example of Create Accelerated Return (CBAR) . when you will create order for material system will automatically propose only return shipping point.
