Required (Purchasing UoM) in Item Master

What is u2018Required (Purchasing UoM)u2019 in the Planning tab of Item Master? What is the purpose of setting this value? There is a validation that this value must be between the MIn and Max value. Why?

Hi All

So far it is clear that Required value must be between Min and Max (not including) and we set this value for our convenience. But is there any method in arriving at this value? Does it have any relation with Min and Max values? Is this vlaue used anywhere else for calculation (like MRP)? Is it what is called Economic order quantity in Inventory Management?

Economic order quantity is much more complicated than the Required quantity.

The former needs to consider the UoM, the price list, the leading time and so on.

On the other hand, the later will only give you a lowest and highest inventory level quota.
