question about the asset under construction

Dear Sir or Madam,

I have a question about the asset under construction. I need to transfer an asset under construction to a finished asset, but a transfer via the asset class is not sufficient. The problem with the asset class transfer here is unfortunately that the transfer can then no longer be found in the Transfers column in the asset history sheet. All values go to the target asset class, even the acquisition production costs on 01.01. although nothing was posted there at that time. It should also be possible to change the inventory number (assign a different number). Is there still a possibility that the asset is depreciated only after the transfer and the asset history sheet is created correctly ?

Thanks a lot

Susanne

Hi,

Thank you very much for your help.

The customer had already booked the asset under construction and it is to be transferred as a completed asset with a transfer posting. (without purchasing documents).

However, the problem with the asset class transfer is that the transfer can then no longer be found in the Transfers column in the asset history sheet. All values go into the target asset class, even the acquisition production costs as of 01/01, although nothing was posted there at that time.

In addition, the customer would like to change the inventory number. So far, the number tells us if it is an asset under construction. If we do the asset class transfer, the number will remain, which is not what is wanted. The finished plant should receive its own (different) asset number.

I had now suggested as follows: "The asset number/inventory number: one way to do this, after the asset has been transferred to a new asset class, is to transfer it to a new asset master in the new class. Unfortunately, SAP B1 cannot technically reflect depreciation after the transfer and a historical designation of the original asset in this way at this time. Technically, a regular asset transfer from asset 1 in class A to asset 2 in class B can be made. However, before this transfer, the useful life of the original asset would have to be changed so that the useful life on the day of the transfer is not zero. Otherwise, in place of the transfer, the old asset code could be allowed to expire and a new one capitalized, if necessary.

According to the current system design, after a class transfer, an asset is shown in the asset grid only under the new asset class, and the class transfer is not reflected in this report. It is best to reconcile the correctness with the accounting department in advance."

However, there may be another possibility. (?)

Thanks.

Best regards,

Susanne
