CEWB Issue: Parameter Effectivity-Component Assignment

Hello Experts.

I am working with Serial Number Effectivity. I have two Change Numbers, CN1 with Effectivity (Serial Numbers: 1 to 5) and CN2 with Effectivity (Serial Numbers: 6 to 10). I assigned Component-A to Routing Operation 10 using CN1. Now I am trying to change component assignment for the same component- A from Operation 10 to Operation 20 with CN2 (inside CEWB), but it is NOT allowing (says component already assigned to operation 10), which makes no sense, as component-A is only assigned to Operation 10 for Serial Numbers: 1 to 5. I tried to do something similar for a PRT (from Operation 10 to Operation 20 inside CEWB) and it was absolutely fine. So please share answer as to how to make this scenario work for Component Assignment.

Hi Rakesh,

Somehow SAP standard behaviour on compoment assingment is a bit different from other objects in routing. As per SAP standard, one component ID cannot be assinged to multiple operations. Though you might think that with parameter effectivity each serial is unique and can have its own components assignment its not allowed. So component assignment is valid at material level and not at the serial number level. If there is a need to do re-assignment then you can delete the component assignment with origial CN with which it was created and then re-assign it using other change number.
