How to limit the MRP horizon in S/4HANA Cloud Reorder Point Planning

Hi,

I've created custom MRP Type Z1 (equivalent of V1 in S/4HANA on-premise/private cloud) seeing as V1 is not std SAP in S/4HANA Cloud (public). I therefore use Z1/HB which used manual reorder point planning with consideration of external requirements. The problem however is that there is no Planning Horizon active (even though this field is maintained in the MRP Group which is assigned in the Material Master), therefore MRP is considering Reservations as far a 2 years ahead. I only want it to consider Reservations with the next 60 days. How do you achieve this in S/4HANA Cloud?

We would really appreciate your advice/assistance.

Hello arnold.wiggins.

How are you? As I understood, you are using MRP Type Z1 as for Reorder Point, correct? In this case, you need to define the Lot Size of Sourcing/Procurement, as this MRP Type does not take in account the MRP Planning Horizon, as it will replenish the stock considering the quantity that should be ordered, depending if it is a Fixed Lot Size (FX) or Replenishment till Maximum Lot Size (HB).

In the attached screen what you have in the future are the Orders Reservations. This means that you have planned/scheduled Production Orders/Planned Orders/Process Orders that will require this material even in January 2023. And as the MRP Type Z1 refers to Reorder Point does not take in account the demands, but only the Reorder Point, even if in 2024 you have Production Orders/Planned Orders/Process Orders that will reserve this material till below the Reorder Point, in 2024 the MRP will generate a new Purchase Requisition to attend the demand. If you want to limit the MRP Planning Horizon, you should work in the Products that are generating the Reservations from Production Orders/Planned Orders/Process Orders. Then, consequently, the Reservations will be limited in your view above.

Regards.

This is the planning result (V1/HB) which is considering requirements too far into the future.
