I am not sure I really understand your question. I will assume for the moment that you are talking about a Sales distribution channel.
You can extend a Material to one or more distribution channels, using MM01. You can delete this channel from the material by using MM06.
You can change the data for a given material/Sales Org/Dist channel (e.g., change Price ref material, change min order qty, etc) using MM02.
Exactly what business results do you want to accomplish when you say
change the distribution channel of a material
