Cost Element-wise Budget Control for Internal Orders

we have in our SAP system concerning internal orders and budget control. We manage our expenses by maintaining each employee in an internal order. We set the budget for each internal order using transaction KO22, and expenses are subsequently booked to their respective internal orders. However, our management now wishes to implement a cost element-wise budget control for internal orders, as opposed to the current practice of setting budgets for employees as a whole. The reasoning behind this change is that we have a limited set of expenses, namely Petrol, Vehicle Maintenance, Insurance, Telephone, and Travelling. The management's objective is to set individual budgets for each cost element, irrespective of the employee. This would provide a more granular and precise approach to budget control. We are reaching out to you to inquire if there is an existing standard procedure within SAP or if there are specific enhancements/modifications that can be made to achieve cost element-wise budget control for internal orders.

Thanks in advance

Hi Hrishikesh,krrish.kota

If you are on S/4HANA 1909 & beyond, you can use below blog to fulfill your requirement.

Budget Availability Control for Cost Centers in SAP S/4HANA 1909 | SAP Blogs

If you are on lower versions. you might decide to make internal orders/WBS elements with the same nomenclature as GL codes & put validations/substitutions in transactions to maintain system controls. By doing this, you would achieve GL level budgeting.

Gavin.

Hello Hrishikesh, not possible to maintain budget at cost element level for internal order but in S4 HANA in cost center budget can be maintained at cost element level by creating seperate group for each cost element.

Please check below threads hope this helps.
