When meeting in person prospects, new customers, suppliers, or partners, the simple way to quickly get their contact details is still using business cards.

Scanning business cards using mobile device for adding contacts into our LinkedIn network or Outlook has been a common business practice for a while and now we are happy to bring it also into SAP Business One.

Watch the end-to-end scenario in this short demo.

Starting with SAP Business One version 10.0 FP 2111 a new app is added to the Web client for scanning business cards and create business partner master data records on the fly.

This process relies on SAP’s Document Information Extraction Service which is an innovative artificial intelligence service, integrated with optical character recognition (OCR) as well as machine learning based algorithms.

Before you start scanning, perform the following steps:

  1. Activate the DOX service setups in SAP Business One desktop client (Under the Administration module):

  2. In SAP Business One Web client click the ‘Scan Business Card' and define your new business partner type and code:

  3. Scan the business card information by selecting an existing photo or by taking a picture of the business card using an iOS device.

This is it. Your new business partner has been added to your company database:
