Dear All,

We are excited to once again announce a new release of SAP Readiness Check for SAP Customer Experience solutions.

If you are interested in taking part in the pilot, contact us at SAP_Readiness_Check@sap.com.

SAP Readiness Check for SAP Customer Experience Solutions

The SAP CRM on-premise solution covers a wide variety of business processes. These range from typical presales, sales, and services processes, to complex functionality such as SAP Trade Promotion Management, and industry-specific functionality such as utility contracts or SAP Investigation Management for Public Sector.

Given the broad functional scope of the SAP CRM on-premise solution, customers and partners require a tool that shows how the SAP CRM system is used, how it deviates from the standard, and what needs to be considered when planning the transition to the latest SAP Customer Experience solutions on a modern, scalable, and supportable target architecture.

SAP Readiness Check for SAP Customer Experience solutions helps you to plan your transition to the new SAP Customer Experience solutions. The tool provides an overview of how an SAP CRM solution is used and how it has been enhanced, allowing you to reflect on the business capabilities and functionalities that you require for your future solutions. SAP Readiness Check also helps you to engage with implementation partners and SAP, as well as to discuss options for the target architecture.

The analysis presented in SAP Readiness Check for SAP Customer Experience solutions is purely informational and is ideal to support potential greenfield/new implementation projects.

The initial release of the SAP Readiness Check for SAP Customer Experience solutions launched in January 2022 assessed the functional aspects of SAP CRM to deliver valuable profiles about these key topic areas:

  • Solution usage profile

  • Custom developments (both ABAP and BSP enhancements)

  • Custom fields and custom tables

You can read the blog for the initial release here.

In this new release, the analysis incorporates the following areas:

  • Interfaces

  • Add-ons

  • Business functions

  • Data migration

Interfaces

This section of SAP Readiness Check provides information about the interfaces in your SAP CRM system. The interfaces are categorized by the area of the SAP CRM solution they are related to.

The detailed view shows information for each interface grouped by interface type:

  • SAP Business Warehouse extractors

  • IDoc interfaces

  • Custom Web service interfaces

  • RFC/BAPI interfaces

Analysis of additional interface types might be considered on the development roadmap.

What are the benefits?

  • Highlights areas of focus for planning the transition.

  • Facilitates an assessment of whether existing interfaces are required in the target architecture and whether prepackaged integrations and standard APIs can be used (SAP API Business Hub).

Add-Ons and Business Functions

Understanding the active business functions and installed add-ons in your existing SAP CRM solution will help assess the business capabilities and system capabilities required in your target architecture.

These sections of SAP Readiness Check for SAP Customer Experience solutions will present the information related to add-ons and business functions from the data available in the maintenance planner for your SAP CRM system.

What are the benefits?

  • Provides insights into the business and solution capabilities that will be required in your target architecture.

  • Allows early investigation of whether the functionality provided by existing add-ons is available in the target SAP Customer Experience solutions.

Data Migration

Data migration is a key work stream in all SAP implementation projects. It is one of the most challenging tasks of the project and has a high-risk potential. The tedious and costly exercise of scoping and assessing all relevant data objects and determining their data volumes is usually done manually.

To mitigate the risk and to provide a more convenient approach, the initial data migration profile of SAP Readiness Check for SAP Customer Experience solutions analyzes important SAP CRM 7.0 data objects and their data volumes.

This resulting data, which can be exported into a spreadsheet for further processing, helps to plan, prepare, and accelerate any data migration project.

What are the benefits?

  • Offers insight into key master and transactional data objects to be migrated to the target architecture.

  • Allows early investigation of templates, data load solutions, and APIs available in the SAP Customer Experience target solutions to upload data objects.

Getting Started

To set up and run SAP Readiness Check for SAP Customer Experience solutions in your system, the following steps need to be performed:

    1. Follow the instructions in SAP Note 3123220 – SAP Readiness Check for SAP Customer Experience solutions to implement the analysis framework and the data collectors in your SAP CRM 7.0 system. This SAP Note provides detailed and technical information about how to set up and run the analysis. It also contains an FAQ section to help you solve any issues that you may encounter.
An analysis always runs in a background job to avoid timeout issues. The runtime of an analysis depends on many factors, such as the server size and setup, data volumes, or component usage.
The analysis framework allows you to monitor and check the progress of an ongoing analysis.

    2. Once the analysis has finished, download the result to your local file system.
The data collectors provide their results in XML format. The results are grouped into several XML files and summarized in a ZIP archive.
All collected data is human-readable and can be easily inspected with XML viewers. The analysis framework also allows you to examine the collected data directly from the program, which helps you to purge any persistence analysis data from your system.

    3. Launch the SAP Readiness Check landing page and choose Start New Analysis to upload the ZIP file. After a few minutes, the analysis data is ready to be explored within the new SAP Readiness Check analysis.
