Spring is in the air, and it’s the perfect time of the year for companies of all shapes and sizes to dust off the cobwebs, re-think their choices and transform how they do business. Keeping up with the latest rules, regulations and innovations—and having the right data to respond to everyday disruptions —is critical.

A “clean core” approach to your ERP system is a good place to start as the business can more easily consume the latest software releases, accurate data and the latest innovations in AI and sustainability. A clean core powered by Cloud ERP, also enables greater transparency and informed decision-making.

‘‘Cloud ERP and its advanced features and flexibility make it an essential ingredient for success in the digital age, where customers expect faster delivery of products and services, nonstop product and service improvements, greater reliability, and lower costs,’’ said Eric van Rossum, Chief Marketing Officer Cloud ERP at SAP.

New season, new technologies

Many companies are seeing AI is a game changer to leverage the vast amounts of data now available both within business systems and across the supply chain.

According to a recent study conducted by Forbes Advisor, a significant number of business owners, who currently utilize or intend to integrate AI into their operations reported that 53% employ AI to enhance production processes, while 51% embrace AI for process automation.

Embedding AI into end-to-end business processes allows companies to utilize the vast amount of data accessible through modern ERP systems.

“AI is a game changer for ERP,” said Kelly Amaroso, Senior Director, Cloud ERP Product Marketing at SAP in a recent Future of ERP podcast. “It's going to allow you to supercharge your business. AI that's integrated into your ERP, so that you can unlock incredible efficiency, gain extremely valuable insights, and a seamless, simple user experience that will allow for unmatched productivity and growth.”

Clearly, companies need to put a “spring in their step” to meet growing customer expectations. This requires the ability to calculate optimal stock levels to meet the service level commitments.

‘‘AI will be able to do calculations and provide insights into the optimal stock level, the reorder point, and the inventory allocation, based on predefined rules and industry's best practices,” said Carlos Portillo, Artificial Intelligence Product Marketing Mgr., Cloud ERP at SAP in the Future of Supply Chain podcast. ‘‘It can help reduce inventory levels across the supply chain, reducing stock outs and lost sales.”

Technological advancements are always happening, but with the introduction of generative AI, the pace seems to have accelerated to achieve these business goals and respond to the drivers that are out there.
