Hello,
I have seen several blogs about ABAP in Eclipse. The prerequisites always mention Eclipse release 3.6 or 3.7.
I have noticed that the HANA Studion is based on Eclipse 3.8.
Can I install the ABAP for Eclipse Plugin in the HANA Studio or do I have to install a second IDE with the version 3.6 or 3.7?
Thanks,
Michael

Hi,
No need to install AIE in separate IDE.
ABAP in Eclipse works with 3.7 or 3.8 or 4.2 version of eclipse.
Hence you can install it over hana studio.
Take ABAP in Eclipse 2.0 which is available on SMP to get started.

Hello Ashwani Kr Sharma,
hm, I don't see that.
According to the installation guide the prerequisites are:
ABAP Development Tools for SAP NetWeaver Support Platform Matrix
Operating System Windows XP, Vista, 7 (32- or 64-Bit)
Java Runtime JRE 1.6, 32-Bit
MS VC Runtime 10, 32-Bit
SAP GUI for Windows 7.20 Patch Level 9 or higher
Browser Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher / Firefox 4.0 or higher
Eclipse Platform Eclipse 3.6 or 3.7
Since I don't see 3.8, I still have a doubt. Not to mention that I tried and it threw an error.
So, where do you get the information it works with Eclipse 3.8/HANA Studio?
Thanks,
Michael

Hi Michael,
in the latest version of Installation Guide für ADT version 2.0 also Eclipse 4.2 is named as supported eclipse version. Technically it is the same version as eclipse 3.8. This is a bit confusing I know.
We should add 3.8 also as supported version in our guide.
But now to the critical part of the question. You mentionned that installation throws an error.
Could you please describe this error a bit more. Maybe with a screenshot.
Thanks,
Thomas.

Have you tried to install the pre-requisites using the P2F files I've provided at http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ABAP/AiE+easy+installation ?
03-01-2013 2:39 PM
I have tried it now with the version for Juno, since this is apparently equal to the internal version number 3.8.
This time it installed without an error.
I just noticed my system is on 7.31, SP03, so I need to get a suitable backend first before I can continue...
Thanks,
Michael

Good that the client is working now.
For the backend you need at least SP04 and Kernel 7.21 if you would like to use the debugger in Eclipse.

Thomas.

Hi all,
I have ABAP in Eclipse working in a separate Eclipse (Juno) installation. I also tried to install AiE into HANA Studio (rev48). I managed to install the plugins without errors (with the help of the Gregor Wolf P2F files; thanks for that!). But when I open an ABAP object (i.e. program) in HANA Studio I get the following error:
Could not open the editor: The editor can not be shown because the content can not be synchronized with the backend: The current scheduling rule doesn't cover the requested operation.
It works fine in the separate Eclipse installation; both Eclipse installations are connected to the same ABAP backend.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Jeroen

Hi,
Try implementing the following note.
Note 1834948 - Error when opening an editor in ABAP development tools
Cheers

Hi All,
I have the latest HANA studio with rev60 and tried to install the AIE using all the three files mentioned by Gregor Wolf but nothing is working and gives the same error:
Cannot complete the install because of a conflicting dependency
Does anybody is aware of any issues with the AIE installation on HANA studio with rev60.
Thanks,
Ashish

Dear Ashish,
just last week I've updated the P2F file for Eclipse Juno (4.2) which is the basis for the HANA Studio. For me the Installation of AiE 2.13 (which you can get from the Service Marketplace) worked fine.
Best regards
Gregor

Hi Gregor,
Thanks for your reply, actually i found from another post that if i have installed my HANA studio in Program Files then the installation of P2F does not works. I changed it to another folder and then i was succesfully able to install the Juno P2F file.
But a strange thing happend to me is that only 3 or 4 of the total 9 components were installed (it selected those 3 by default and left the remaning saying: 'Disabled because a higher version is already installed') and i even could not select those remaining. And after the succesful installation i still could not see the ABAP perspective in my HANA studio installation. Do you think i am still missing something?
To make things more clear, i had HANA studio installed on my machine and then just installed the juno P2F file using the import option. Do i need to install anything else ??
Thanks a lot.
Ashish

With the Juno P2F your HANA Studio is now prepared to install ABAP in Eclipse which you can download in the latest version from the Service Marketplace.

Hi,
For ABAP in Eclipse installation in HANA Studio (recent versions) you can now also use a repository provided by SAP: https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/juno
Best regards,
Jeroen

Thanks a lot Gregor for the P2F files..
Thanks a lot Jeroen for the repository link. It works for me now..

Hi all,
I've installed sap hana studio with all tools from the https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/juno site. All working fine.
Had a problem during 'upgrade' and had to uninstall all.
Now after multiple times complete reinstalling, NONE of the perspectives are displayed or can be selected.
Anyone who has a clue why ?
many tx,

Hi Jan,
I was also facing the same problem with Juno. Then, I have downloaded HANA studio version 70 and ABAP in Eclipse V2.19 from Service.sap.com/swdc and then installed by following steps:
1. Added the followinn components in HANA studio->Install New Software-> http://download.eclipse.org/releases/kepler
EMF Edit Data Binding
EMF Model Transaction Workbench Integration
EMF Validation Framework
Mylyn Commons
Mylyn Task-Focused Interface\
2. Added the ABAP Core Tools
I was able to installed it successfully. You can download the installation guide "ADT_740_installation.pdf" from scn.
Please award if if helps.
Thanks,
Selva
