Hello ABAP friends,
because I am one of those people that are used to work with .CHM help files to look up and search for language commands and concepts, I really would appreciate a copy of the ABAP documentation in this format. The application servers help functions contain lots of popups and windows that make me not happy, it just slows me down. I searched a bit for a .CHM copy but couldnt find anything suitable.
There might be two reasons:
a) my search was not good enough (not unlikely).
b) there is nothing directly available.
Since I didnt find anything, I examined the .CHM SDK (freely available from microsoft), and it is indeed easy usable. The second thing i noticed is that the application server lets you download the ABAP documentation as a bundle of .html files. Based on a few experiments, I concluded that assembling a .CHM from this files is indeed a manageable task.
However I do not want to reinvent the wheel. If you know where I can find .CHM documentation of ABAP, please let me know. Otherwise I would be willing to create such a file and share it with you, provided that there are no legal constraints.
Best regards,
Hannes

Hello Hannes,
do you (or your administrator) have an Online Documentation CD for your SAP Release?
On my CD for the Release 46C, Order Number 50040417 you can start the Windows Helpfiles directly from
<CD Drive>:HtmlhelpHelpdata<language>00000001.chm
and navigate to the ABAP part.
However I'm not sure if the .CHM files are also available for the newer releases.
I think you can order the Online CD also in the SAP Knowledge Shops.

Stefan

Hi Stefan,
after even more searching i found out that the service market place offers documentation updates for download, so i dont have to buy a CD. There are different zip files for plain html and .CHM indeed, and i guess the ABAP documentation is among them.
Thanks for your hint, it pointed me into the right direction.
Here is where i found it: https://websmp205.sap-ag.de/maintenanceNW2004s
