JDK question for Netweaver

Former Member

As I understand it, IBM Java 1.4.2 is the only JVM certified for

NetWeaver.

I don't believe IBM Java is certified on Itanium platforms.

Can you confirm if that is true - that NetWeaver does not run on Itanium

platforms - or explain how that works given the IBM Java being

required.

..... or does NetWeaver use a different JVM on different platforms?

Netweaver uses different JDKs depending on the OS

For Linux on Itanium you will use the "normal" JDK 1.4.2 from Sun. For Linux on x86_64 (AMD64 or Intel Xeon EM64T) you will use the IBM JDK.

HP-UX on Itanium uses the HP JDK 1.4.2 from http://www.hp.com/go/java

You can check the used JDKs by reading

http://service.sap.com/pam

--> Netweaver 2004s (7.0)

If you open that you will get a powerpoint showing on page 4 the different JDKs used by the different OS.

So to answer your question: Yes, you can run Java applications on Linux/IA64.
