Material Master MRP

Hi Everyone

In the material master ,I have a requirement where user is looking for an available field in the current MRP screen, in this field they would like to set up options that allow the materials group to state why the price of the material has changed.. Currently at the user end the materials group are unable to explain why some price variances are occurring. If there was a place where they could place an  indicator on the mrp screen when they are setting up the material and this would eliminate this problem.

Materials with price variances would be flagged by the indicators entered on the mrp screen. This information will allow materials and finance make better decisions for budgeting and forecasting purposes.

Do we have any indicator in the MRP screen of material master which can resolve the problem?

there are usually no spare fields in material master  that can be used by customers for their own purpose.

you can append the MARC table and add the field to your screen

Or you just use classification to do the same modification free, but without the advantage to see the field in MRP view.

Hi Onkar,

It looks like that your client requires analyzing the price variance. Material Master Record is master data where you can’t have such functionality of tracking reasons for variance.

SAP has standard report to show price variance under Logistics --- Material management---Valuation. With reference to this user has to analyze & answer for major variances.

Secondly if cost controlling is used by client with respect to cost run of end product, we can get reports for purchase price variances & production cost variances from controlling. For this analyses & reasons again user have to do efforts & correct respective elements. This activity is to be done on regular frequency as per client comfort.

I case of purchase we can monitor this activity to some extent by setting tolerance limits for price variance in IMG.
